Elementary Bands -- Overview

General

The District 70 Elementary Band and Orchestra programs begin in fourth grade. Recruiting for these programs occurs in early September. Small-group lessons begin in October and large-group ensemble rehearsals are added in November. The District 70 Band Program has a teaching staff of four teachers.

2-Part Experience

The band program is comprised of two separate, and equally important classes. Elementary band students attend one small-group lesson per-week and one large-group rehearsal per-week. Students must attend both classes in order to participate in the District 70 Band Program. Small-group lessons are during the school day and are "pull-out" classes from academics.
