The District 70 Department of Human Resources is responsible for supervising, overseeing and assisting in the recruitment, hiring, and ongoing development of new staff members. Specifics include: * Preparing and maintaining job postings * Receiving all resumes and on-line applications * Responding to telephone inquiries related to job vacancies * Screening and interviewing job applicants * Managing teacher certification requirements and associated NCLB "Highly Qualified" status of all licensed staff * Performing criminal background checks for all licensed and support personnel * Providing contract information and benefits analysis for all new employees * Making hiring recommendations to the Board of Education * Coordinating and overseeing the District 70 New Teacher Induction and Mentoring Program * Participating in the Lake County Job Fair Other department activities include: * Interpretation and application of the Teacher's Negotiated Agreement * Tracking enrollment projections and making staffing recommendations * Oversee annual compliance training obligations * Policy Manual maintenance, updates, and revisions * Tracking and responding to legislative changes * Overseeing leaves of absence and FMLA requirements * Establishing and providing seniority lists for licensed staff * Coursework approval/tracking of advanced training * Confirm/verify retirement list * Distribution of the District 70 Personnel Directory * Maintaining the District 70 Job Description Manual * Creation/distribution of District 70 Tutor List * Placement of university student teachers * Coordinating all aspects of substitute teaching to include:-Recruitment -Orientation -Evaluation of all licensed and support substitute personnel -Establishing appropriate procedures and practices -Assistance in the placement of long-term substitutes
