Once the state substitute license is secured, complete or continue an application for becoming a District 70 Substitute.
After being accepted for substitute teaching, substitutes are encouraged to attend the Substitute Orientation. Prior to attending the orientation, it is best to complete the necessary health forms to be signed and stamped by a physician.

To become a substitute teacher, obtaining a substitute license from the state is necessary. The process for obtaining the license is processed through the Lake County Regional Office of Education and includes sending in college transcripts, creating an account in the Educator Licensure Information System (ELIS) and paying an application fee.
