Substitute Teachers

After being accepted for substitute teaching, substitutes are encouraged to attend the Substitute Orientation. 

During the orientation (as seen above), information about District 70 will be given including but not limited to:

Thank you for considering serving our students as a District 70 substitute teacher. We appreciate your willingness to serve our community.  In order to better understand the position, please read the job description for District 70 substitute teachers. 

To become a substitute teacher,  obtaining a substitute license from the state is necessary.  The process for obtaining the license is processed through the Lake County Regional Office of Education and includes sending in college transcripts, creating an account in the Educator Licensure Information System (ELIS) and paying an application fee.
