Once the state substitute license is secured, complete or continue an application for becoming a District 70 Substitute.
Substitute Teachers
After being accepted for substitute teaching, substitutes are encouraged to attend the Substitute Orientation.
During the orientation (as seen above), information about District 70 will be given including but not limited to:
- Safety procedures
- Compliance Tutorials
- Payroll Schedule information and onboarding forms
- Login information to our Red Rover, which allows a substitute to check for available assignments.

To become a substitute teacher, obtaining a substitute license from the state is necessary. The process for obtaining the license is processed through the Lake County Regional Office of Education and includes sending in college transcripts, creating an account in the Educator Licensure Information System (ELIS) and paying an application fee.
