Residency Verification
- Illinois Law requires that all students attending Libertyville District 70 be bona fide residents of the district. The District will attempt to verify residency with third-party software specific to this task. If residency is unable to be verified the parent will receive an email or letter from the Registrar requesting additional information in order to proceed.
Residency documents can be dropped off at the district office, emailed to registration@d70schools.org, or faxed to (847) 362-3003 ATTN: Registration.
Only new students and current families who have moved to another address need to show proof of residency.
Illinois law (105 ILCS 5/10-20.12b, 105 ILCS 5/14-1.11a and additional) requires that students attending District 70 be bona fide residents of this district. Generally, a student must live with a parent or legal guardian who resides within the boundaries of District 70 and possesses appropriate documents. (Guardians and custodial parents must provide current legal documents outlining the custodial agreement). These follow-up verifications may be completed by sending photocopies, unless otherwise requested by the District. District 70 may require any student to prove residency at any time. Knowingly or willfully providing false information to a school district regarding residency in order to register a student who is not a resident is a fraudulent act and a Class C misdemeanor. Any student found to be fraudulently registered will be dropped from the district. Parents, guardians or other persons making a fraudulent registration will be charged 100% of the previous year's per capita student cost as tuition, with the total amount charged determined by the current daily rate times the number of days the child attended District 70.
District 70 is committed to ensuring efficiency and protecting community resources through our annual residency verification process.
District 70 uses a tool called the CLEAR Batch system to electronically review student residency. The CLEAR Batch system reviews public records to verify student residency. All returning students to District 70 will be reviewed using this system. In most cases, the CLEAR Batch system will locate adequate documentation to verify student residency for the school year, and there will be no need to submit any additional paperwork to certify that the student lives within the district's boundaries.
In other cases, the CLEAR Batch system may identify inconsistencies in public records that may require parents/guardians to provide additional documentation. If necessary parents/guardians will receive an email requesting additional documentation to verify the student's residency.
Complete Online Registration
- After pre-registration and residency verification are complete, the Student-Enrollment Specialist will review the documentation. Within 48 hours, the parent/guardian will then receive an email with further instructions to complete registration.

Provide Original Birth Certificate
-
The child's Birth Certificate, with an official seal, must be brought to the Student-Enrollment Specialist at the District Office, Educational Resource Center. A hospital certificate is not sufficient. The District will make a copy and return the original. This step can be completed at any time during the registration process, but must be done before registration is considered complete.
