Welcome Adler Park Art Teacher Karyn Gordon

Please give a warm welcome new Adler Park art teacher Karyn Gordon. The new position will keep art teacher Alicia Sather at Butterfield School, rather than splitting her time between Butterfield and Adler Park schools. She was hired by the Board of Education in May. 

Karyn returns to D70 after being a long-term substitute art teacher in 1997 for Adler Park and Butterfield schools. More recently, Karyn has been an art teacher at a private elementary school in Skokie, for the last six years. She also has been an art teacher in Deerfield for five years, in Skokie for three years, in Des Plaines for three years, and in Midlothian for one year. 

Karyn has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois.

“The art room is a special place for all students,” Karyn noted. “Students come into the art room with a wide range of experiences and skills in both creating and appreciating visual art…I adapt my art lessons for my diverse student population…I introduce art forms from diverse cultures and focus on artists in the school community. The art room acts as a studio and is welcoming to all students.”
