Talking to Children about Events in the News
Recent events in Washington DC have been troubling and can cause stress, fear, or anxiety in children as well as adults.  If you choose to discuss the recent events with your child(ren) please see the link below for some useful information.  We are here to support students.  If you feel your child needs additional support from a counselor, please contact Mrs. Raphael, Butterfield’s school social worker, and/or Mrs. Byrne, Butterfield’s school psychologist, or myself.

BFA NEWS

 Good Afternoon-

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone enjoyed their winter break!

In December the BFA hosted a Breakfast for Lunch from Bagels by the Book and delivered a $25 gift card of their choice to all our teachers and staff at Butterfield. A small token of thanks for their hard work each and every day.

Our BFA committees are busy planning how we can host some of our beloved traditions over the next coming months. Please stay tuned for details and ways to volunteer.

We have our BFA General meeting this month via Zoom on Tuesday, January 26 at 9 am. A link to join will be emailed out the Monday before. We would love to have you join us!

We will continue our book fair tradition with a virtual book fair in February, so please stay tuned for details.

Finally, Valentine’s Day is around the corner! If you are a Head Room Parent, it might be a good time to talk with your volunteers about what you would like to do for the students or teachers. Valentine’s Parties at school will not take place however, I heard there were some creative parents out there who put together a special treat for their class(es) before winter break. Please know you are not required to do anything and do not feel like you need to.

I am looking forward to a new year and new ideas!
