2021-2022 Student Placement Parent Input

The time has come where we begin planning for the 2021-2022 school year.  The Butterfield School staff will soon make student placement decisions for next school year. This responsibility is taken very seriously and many factors are considered during the process. Although learning styles, teaching styles, and classroom blends are vital components in the placement of students, the most valuable piece is the wealth of information the teacher brings to the conversation.  Academic achievement needs, as well as an environment that supports a child’s social and emotional well-being are all essential factors in the decision-making process. Although requests for specific teachers will not be considered, once again, parental input may be supplied by means of the Parent Input Google Form.  This form will be available to parents April 19th - April 30th.  The link will be emailed to parents April 19th.

This form allows for additional information, of which current teaching staff may be unaware, regarding a child’s academic and/or social emotional development.  If you feel additional information may be critical to your child’s educational advancement, please submit your thoughts by completing the Parent Input Google Form by Friday, April 30th.  Please rest assured that all factors are taken into account before the school team makes final placement decisions. We genuinely appreciate your confidence as we begin to plan for another exciting school year at Butterfield.

2021-2022 Kindergarten Orientation

Future kindergarteners and parents are welcome to view a Butterfield Kindergarten Orientation video beginning Tuesday, April 20th.  The orientation is intended for all future kindergarten students and parents to view.  Viewers will learn more about Butterfield School, be introduced to staff, and learn what a typical day of kindergarten is like.

If you have yet to register for Kindergarten, please be sure to do so.  This will help with planning.

D70 Summer School

In-person summer school in Libertyville District 70 begins on Monday, June 14, and D70 is excited to offer academic courses including math, reading, and writing for students in grades K-8 to specifically address unfinished learning during the pandemic.

Registration for Summer School begins at 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 1st, through our d70schools.org website and is open to only District 70 families. Families will register students by their 2021-22 grade level and students will then be assigned a class for the entire morning sessions which run from 8:30-11:45 a.m., Monday through Thursday until July 15. For an extra fee, bus service will be available for summer school, which will be held at Highland Middle and Rockland schools, both located next to one another on Rockland Road in Libertyville

Students will not rotate among classes and must remain in school for the entire three-hour morning sessions. As has become practice during COVID-19, students will be asked to self-certify for COVID symptoms every morning before summer school. Face masks will be required, as will social distancing and frequent hand washing.

  • Intervention services will be offered for students who qualify for the additional help and will be pulled into small groups from general education time. Both math and reading intervention services will be offered.

  • Summer school also will offer Extended School Year (ESY) for students who qualify through their Individualized Education Program. Students in this program will be grouped together and spend their time in the same class.

To register, click on Summer School listed along the top bar under Schools and then go to Home. For more information, contact Summer School Directors Elizabeth Davis or Carrie Modra via contact info posted under Summer School.
