Final Paw Print of 2020-2021 - 6-1-2021
The Last Week of School
The last week of school is always full of exciting opportunities to celebrate the school year.  This year is no exception.

Thursday, June 3rd:  -- FIELD DAY

Mrs. Hochman and Mr. Ramlow have planned a fun day for our school.  Please send your child in comfortable shoes and clothing.  If it is nice out, students will be outside for half of the day.  Students should bring a water bottle and sunscreen.

Kindergarten, First and Second Grades:  Students will rotate through ten 15-minute stations with their class.
CFA is providing a hot dog sack lunch from Max's Dawg House (THANK YOU, CFA!)
Third, Fourth and Fifth Grades:  Students will rotate through nine 15-minute stations with the class.

Fifth grade students will celebrate their final full day at Copeland with a special celebration.  The party starts with a lunch provided by the CFA followed by Copeland's version of "The Amazing Race."  Cross your fingers for nice weather, so activities can take place outside.

Monday, June 7th -- LAST DAY OF SCHOOL -- 1:15 Dismissal

Students in  first grade will spend special time "camping out" and celebrating becoming readers!

Kindergarten Celebration -- 11:45 - 12:45
One parent to join each student to eat lunch together and enjoy time reminiscing on this important year.

Students in Grades 2-5 will enjoy a virtual assembly to celebrate the school year.

After lunch, the entire school will go outside (weather permitting) for an all-school recess.  If yearbooks arrive in time, students will sign each other's yearbooks.

The traditional year-end parade out of school will take place at 1:15.  The fifth grade students will lead the parade through the halls and out the front doors.

Medication Pick Up - A Note from Mrs. Beckman

If your child has medication in the nurse's office, a parent will need to pick it up by the last day of school: Monday, June 7th by noon.  The only medication a student can transport home in a backpack is their inhaler.  Any unclaimed medications will be discarded.

If your child will be attending Summer School, let me know if you would like me to transfer the medication and doctor's order to Rockland or Highland.

If your child will need to have medication(s) for the 2021-2022 school year, the appropriate form(s) will need to be completed and signed by the parent/guardian, as well as signed by their physician dated after June 30, 2021.

Medication Authorization Form

Allergy Action Plan

Allergy Questionnaire

The Medication Authorization Form, Allergy Action Form and/or Allergy Questionnaire must be turned in to the school nurse by the first day of school, August 19, 2021, along with the medication in its original container.  Please check the expiration date prior to bringing the medication in.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact Nora Beckman.

Staffing Updates
We are so fortunate to have every classroom teacher returning in the fall.  At this time, all in-person classroom teachers will remain in the same grade level she/he is teaching currently.

Each year, you will hear our plea that families register early so that we can make accurate staffing plans for the fall.  This year, this is so important -- especially in kindergarten.  We are very close to adding a 4th section.  If you have an incoming kindergarten student, please register for school.  If you know of anyone who has yet to register, please encourage that family to do the same.

One new teacher to join the staff is Mrs. Kassebaum.  Becca Kassebaum is currently a special education teacher at Butterfield School who is working with students in small classrooms.  Mrs. Kassebaum joins the Copeland staff in the fall as a Math Interventionist.  Mrs. Kassebaum attended kindergarten at Copeland, and is very excited to work with students to support them in the area of math.  She will be an excellent addition to our team.

THANK YOU to the teachers who taught students virtually this year.  Mrs. Marcum, Mrs. Sieks, Mrs. Thompson, Mrs. Parkhurst, and Mrs. Chambers have all served Copeland students and their families providing students with educational experiences through Google Meets.  We thank these teachers for maintaining connections and standards in this new way and providing families the option that worked best for them.  We couldn't have made it through this year without you!
