Exploration Day
Thank you so much to all of the presenters/Business Partners, volunteers, and everyone who made this year's Exploration Day so wonderful.  Students had the opportunity to play a ukelele, dance, bake, cook, fly a drone, design, build, improvise, make root beer, exercise, and much, much more.  This day is a time-honored Copeland tradition and would not happen were it not for the efforts and hours of many people.  Special days like Exploration Day are just one of the reasons why Copeland is such an amazing school.  THANK YOU!

Art Fest 2019 is already on the calendar for May 10th.  :)

End of the Year Band/Orchestra/Chorus Celebrations
Libertyville District 70 provides many opportunities for students to engage musically as a community.  During the month of May, year-end band, orchestra and chorus concerts were enjoyed by many.  It is quite impressive how much students learn in their early years of instrument play.  Students move from learning how to put together and hold instruments to playing pieces with harmony during concerts.  We are fortunate to have the talents of Mrs. Griffin, Ms. Zabelin, and Mr. Turner leading our 4th and 5th grade students in their musical adventures.

Celebrating Student Behavior
A year-end behavior assembly took place to celebrate the positive choices students made this year.  The assembly began with a performance by 5th grade band students (WOW!!).  Student Council worked in partnership with the Digiltal Storyteller club to write and record "Behavior Expectations" throughout the building.  This student-created video was enjoyed everyone during the assembly.  Then, students rotated through activities with their buddy classes as they demonstrating "SPORTING GOOD CHARACTER" the teamwork Character Counts theme for the last two years.  The final Lunch with the Principal took place during which time students share the choices they've made that makes them proud.

Happy Retirement, Mrs. Bell!
Mrs. Bell was touched and surprised by the outpouring of love and appreciation she has received as she looks ahead to retirement.  Mrs. Bell has served the Copeland community for 20 years.  She has earned the respect of everyone as the true "Queen of Copeland."  Enjoy retirement, Mrs. Bell!  Thank you for all that you have done for us and for all that you mean to us!

Field Day 2018
Field Day 2018 was full of fun!  Thank you to all of the volunteers who came out early to set up and throughout the day to help lead games and activities.  Students walked on slacklines, played kickball, participated in bucket brigades, relays, dodgeball, ball, and many more fun activities.  The day ended with smiles and zapped energy.  Specials thanks to our PE teachers, Mr. Etnyre and Mr. Ramlow for all of the preparation and leadership that made the day wonderful.  Thanks also to Mrs. Swearingin for her organization with CFA volunteers.

5th Graders are off to HMS!
The fifth grade students enjoyed a special picnic designed just for them!  The annual picnic is a time for students to reminisce and celebrate their elementary school years before heading off to middle school.  Thank you to Mrs. Whisenand, the teachers, and all of the volunteers for making this a special day for students.  We will miss you, students, but you are READY for all the opportunities that await you.  Please come back and visit.

Kindergarten Celebration
Kindergarten students sang, read poems and shared their portfolios during a year-end celebration/graduation to first grade.  There wasn't a dry eye in the house during what is, arguably, the cutest performance we will see all year.  Thanks for recognizing Mrs. Bell who does, truly make this a wonderful world.  Job well done, teachers and students.  You are on your way ......
