Both schools were in a soft lockdown for about an hour. All students and staff were accounted for and safe during this time.

During a soft lockdown in District 70, which has a low impact on school activities, students and staff move freely throughout the school although no one is allowed in or out of the building, and outside activities are canceled.

In an abundance of caution, D70 Supt. Matt Barbini requested outside student activities be canceled at Adler Park, Butterfield, and Copeland Manor schools during the soft lockdown, although people were allowed to enter and exit the schools freely.

As is District 70's tradition, information about a soft lockdown is shared as rapidly as possible with the staff and families impacted by the event at that school. More information is emailed to parents as it becomes available and if it is appropriate. We ask that community members not call the schools during lockdowns because the administration and staff are focused on keeping children safe and following law enforcement directions. We will post a notice on the website once police give us the all-clear for the buildings.

Please note: the Libertyville Police are handling the incident that led to the lockdown as an active investigation and directly requested that District 70 share no more information about it. In partnership, District 70 is honoring that request.
Mon, 26 Apr 2021 10:43:32 -0500 http://www.d70schools.org/schoolsites/?school_id=2#6446 Registration for Kindergartners, New Students, Returning Students Now Open http://www.d70schools.org/schoolsites/?school_id=2#6282
Registration for KINDERGARTNERS and NEW STUDENTS and RETURNING STUDENTS is now open on the D70 website.

For new kindergartners, as well as students who will be new to the district this fall for the 2021-22 school year:

On the d70schools.org website, go to HOME, then NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION and follow the directions.

You may also register on your home school website, under PARENTS.

Please register as early as possible so we can make sure we have staff in place for all students.

We encourage you to pay online.

You may pay by check by mailing the check to Libertyville School District 70, Educational Resource Office, 1381 W.
