Sign that says se habla español

1.  Speak in Spanish as much as possible!  If you don’t use it, you lose it!

2.  Learning a 2nd language requires you to be brave and you must be willing to make mistakes.

3.  Come to class prepared: ISN (notebooks), pen/pencil, paper, homework etc.

4.  Late is late – if you walk in AFTER the bell, sign in on the tardy chart.

*3 tardies = recess detention.

5.  When I assign homework, I expect your BEST work.

6.  Respect everyone’s ideas, thoughts and practice.  We are ALL learning at our own pace.

7. I am NOT a dictionary - use your resources.  With that being said, the use of translators is PROHIBITED!  Using a translator is submitting work that is not yours and is therefore plagiarism (which results in a zero).  Feel free to use an online dictionary; I recommend using www.wordreference.com

8.  CHROMEBOOKS:  please make sure you come to class with your Chromebook charged everyday.  We may not use it everyday, but best to be prepared.

9.  CHROMEBOOKS:  Keep your Chromebook closed until I instruct you to open it.

Welcome to 7th grade Spanish!  This is my 6th year at Highland, 14th year teaching. I taught at Geneseo High School for 8 years before coming to Libertyville.  I love traveling (when I can and when there isn't a global pandemic).  I studied abroad in college at the Universidad de Salamanca in España with Señora Raymond.  Since then, I have traveled a lot for fun - France, England, Italy, Greece, Turkey and Mexico.  In 2013, I brought high school juniors and seniors abroad for the trip of a lifetime.  This is my 5th year sponsoring the HMS yearbook.  I love the entire process of watching this book unfold throughout the year.  When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my family, reading and doing anything outside.  I am looking forward to the 2021-2022 school year - it feels so good to be back.
