Welcome to MTSS Reading Intervention

My name is Lori Benjamin. I have been teaching at Highland for 20 years. I am the mother of a new college freshman, Tre, who will be majoring in Finance and playing baseball at Western Illinois University, and a junior, Olivia, who is at Mundelein High School. She keeps us busy with sports and worrying about her as a new driver. My husband, Wil, is a packaging engineer. In our spare time, we run MVP Sports Academy and will be opening MVP Fieldhouse this fall. We also have 2 four-legged kids, Minnie and Cooper.

My passion for reading and teaching led me to a Reading Specialist position. I have taught many resource-type reading classes at HMS, from push-in, pull-out, co-taught, and resource. All have taught me so much about learners and readers.  I consider myself your child's "mom" at Highland. I teach reading strategies, reteach skills, work on executive functioning skills, teach note-taking, test-taking strategies, give pep talks, and in general, keep an eye on them here at school.
