Welcome to our Hive!

I am so excited to be back at Butterfield doing what I love the most...TEACHING!

This is my 13th year in the district!  I went to the University of Iowa, and received my Masters in Education at DePaul University.  I also have a Master's Degree in School Administration.  I have experience teaching Special Education, Kindergarten, Administration, 5th Grade, and this is my first year in 2nd grade.  I am thrilled to once again be with primary students, as these are the years that are so impactful.  I am a firm believer in Character Education, and I make sure to embed it throughout our daily activities.  I also take opportunities to model what it is like to be a lifelong learner, as this is our primary goal as educators!  It's fun watching the students realize that even their teacher has more to learn.  Taking advantage of real-time learning opportunities is something I have fun doing with students.

I live with my husband, daughter, (Mackenzie, 8), son, (Bryce, 5), and dog, (Duke, 11) in Mundelein.  It's fun having two children in elementary school as a teacher myself.  It increases my understanding and empathy with the ins and outs of school/home life balance and communication.  It's so important to work as partners, with your child at the center.  This being said, if ever you have a question, do not hesitate to send me a note via email.

Classroom Connections:

There will be many ways for you to connect with our class this year.  We will be utilizing SeeSaw and Google Classroom to share online learning and demonstrate concepts.

We will also share what we learn and the exciting things happening in our class each week through Twitter @PattersonD70.  Please follow our class to get the most up-to-date information! I will also share photos and class events through Google Photos so you can have a peek into our classroom and special events.

Calendar

Please refer to the calendar located as the back cover on your child's take home folder.  It highlights special events that will be happening throughout the month.
