Hi! My name is Ashley Turner and I am thrilled to be your child’s second grade teacher! It is going to be a fun year full of learning and new adventures and I cannot wait to see what the year has in store for us.
I grew up in Antioch and live there now with my husband Andy and our two boys Finn (3) and Tatum (18 m). When I am not teaching I enjoy spending time with my boys, cooking, boating, reading, snowmobiling, golfing and visiting our family cabin up north.
I am excited to be going in to my eighth year teaching! This will be my fifth year teaching second grade and my third year at Adler Park. I graduated from Roosevelt University in Chicago with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, a minor in Spanish and endorsements in ELL, Spanish, and Reading. I am currently pursuing a master's degree in Reading Instruction at Concordia University.
My teaching career has been geared toward the empowerment of child development and education. I have a strong passion to educate young minds and create a love for life-long learning. My teaching style is a child-centered approach of hands-on learning through balanced literacy and math workshops, Whole Brain Teaching, centers, technology, manipulatives and anything that facilitates the desire for students to explore and be fully engaged in the learning process.
I am looking forward to spending the next year learning and growing with you.
