About Mrs. B

I graduated from DePaul University in 2014 with a degree in elementary education. I also received my master's degree in 2015 from Western Illinois University. This is my 6th year of teaching fourth grade and my second in the district. I got married in November of 2016 and we have two little dogs. We are so excited to welcome our first baby in October!

Birthdays

We LOVE celebrating birthdays! We would love to celebrate your child’s birthday on their special day! This year however, we will NOT be celebrating birthdays with food. Your child is more than welcome to bring in something to share with the class (pencils, knick knack toys, etc.) on their birthday. We have 22 students in the class. They can also bring in a special picture book that we can read as a class. Summer birthday? No problem! We will celebrate half birthdays (or on a day of their choice) for students who have summer birthdays.

Dear Families,

Encouraging reading is one of the most important things we can do to help your child succeed. It can be tough finding the right books to keep them interested, which is why I am so excited that our class will be participating in Scholastic Reading Club this school year.

With Scholastic Reading Club:

  • Every book you buy earns FREE Books for our classroom library
  • You can choose from handpicked, grade- and reading-level-specific books for your child
  • You'll find the best values on a variety of formats
Most months, your child will bring home Reading Club flyers. All you will need to do is visit the link below and purchase any of the available books!

Homework

If you have any questions about homework assignments for the night, please refer to your child's assignment notebook. We check them daily at the end of each day.

Please keep in mind that we typically do not have homework on Fridays. The students do however, have a Friday folder that they need to go through with parents and then sign the folder next to the correct date and return it on Monday.

Homework Policy
Every night, students can expect a math worksheet, 20 minutes of reading, and word study for homework. If a student forgets/doesn't do their homework, they will receive a homework notice that will need to be signed by a parent. The student must also stay in for Buddy Study to finish the homework that was not done.
